I participated, with some of my works from the collection Tribal Possession and African Vips, to the collective exhibition of artists from the coast: PWANI comes Upcountry. The exhibition was organized by the Alliance Française’s refined director of Mombasa, in the prestigious Nairobi location. The exhibition runs November 6 to 23. The inauguration was attended by many prominent personalities of the social and political life of the capital. There was Lydia Galavu, curator of the museum in Nairobi, the actor Abubakar Ismael, Jean-Pierre Tutin Cultural Counsellor at the French Embassy and many others. The Minister of Culture and Development, said in an interview: "It 's a pleasure to inaugurate the exhibition of these talented artists of the coast."
On November 21, the famous Pescheria Spadari in Milan, celebrated the eighty years since its inception. I have been invited to exhibit part of my collection "SIRENS" and to act as godmother to the event.
L’8 febbraio 2013, si è inaugurata la mostra dell’artista Paola Franchi, nella sede del famoso Centro Culturale Francese di Mombasa: L’Alliace Francaise. Il titolo di questa nuova esposizione è “Tribal Possession”. L’artista si è ispirata alle tribù dell’Etiopia della bassa valle dell’Omo, per proporre ritratti coloratissimi e di grande impatto. Inoltre sono esposti quattro ritratti di personaggi famosi Kenyani: Ezechiel Kemboi, medaglia d’oro Giochi Olimpici Londra 2012; Maathai Wangari, ministro per l’ambiente e Nobel per la pace; Suzzana Owiyo , famosa cantante di musica tradizionale; Wahu, popolare cantante di musica pop . Alcuni ritratti della collezione “Sirene” completano l’esposizione che si protrarrà fino al 22 febbraio.

At 6.00 pm, an inaugural cocktail reception was held for the exhibition “Scent of Africa” in Stefania Livi’s beautiful store. It was a great success, with the cream of Italian society resident in Malindi in attendance. The exhibition ran until the end of August.

A theme that is always in fashion is love; every artist is happy to interpret it. Paola Franchi’s impression was expressed as endless love beyond every imagination: a beautiful sinuous mermaid that appears from the water in the harbour and sensually embraces a sailor.
