A fairytale from the mid 90s of the last century: the main characters were Paola Franchi and Maurizio Gucci, the sophisticated heir apparent to the dynasty that has epiyomized Italian elegance over the last fifty years. Their love story began on a balmy evening and developed between Milan and La Dolce Vita on the international playgrounds – Portfino, St. Tropez, yachts and champagne. However, beneath the polished surface, two much more important deeper realities were smouldering. One was the fulfilling intense and sincere love affair, emotions that gave Paola and Maurizio some serenity after some difficult times. The second scenario was the ominous mixture of envy and resentment that would eventually lead to the desire to damage the ex-husband and his new companion, first with black magic and then the crime. On March 27th 1995, Maurizio Gucci was assassinated by with four bullets. On November 3rd 1998, his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani was sentenced to 29 years of prison accused of being accessory to his death.
Paola Franchi tells the story of a woman who loves beauty; it spans from her passion for her profession as an interior decorator to her latest vocation as a figurative artist and pushes into the realms beyond her suffering. Since Maurizio was killed 15 years ago, Paola has kept quiet about her pain. Her anguish was aggravated a few years later when her adolescent son Charly committed suicide. For the first time, she has opened her heart and tells of this splendid and tragic love story, her return to serenity against the marvelous backdrop of Africa.
